Video: Is There Really a War on Christmas?

Every December we are bombarded by stories about Christ being removed from Christmas. Is our culture really waging a War on Christmas? Is secularism and political correctness really running wild? Skye Jethani explores the surprising history of Christmas in the United States and explains why Jesus has never really been the reason for the season in America.

Once again Skye, I appreciate and learn from your calm voice of reason and wisdom. Please be encouraged, in Christ and by a brother, to continue in spreading this more rational and nuanced message of love, hope and faith.

Great presentation. A much needed message for our drama prone Christianity of the west. Thank you.

A friend introduced me to your book WITH a few months ago. It have since enjoyed your blogs and podcasts – as well as the veggie dude :).

Your voice has been a help and blessing in my own journey of questioning the religiosity of my faith while challenging me to move toward a Jesus exemplified life of love in action.

Admittedly, at 55 my forward motion is all too often slow, sarcastic and grumpy. I’m a work in process. I need the work of Christ more than ever.

    Stay the course brother.

Thank you Skye for once again bringing truth, fact and reason to Christian “myths.” I have long felt uncomfortable during the holidays with over blown commercialism and Christians being offended with “happy holiday” slogans. It’s good to know that I am not a lone wolf in all this holiday hypocrisy.

Yours is a voice of reason in this glittering and often confusing “Christmas” season. Thank you.

I agree with you and the other comments. I just hope you don’t end up on Santa’s naughty kid list this year

Thank you for such a concise history of Christmas. We should all focus this “season” on loving one another, as we should each and every day of the year.

Wow! Like your thoughts Skye. We are busy majoring on the minors and minoring the major.

the red cup thing was a tempest in a tea pot last year. i have as many or more conservative evangelical friends as anyone, and i didn’t hear 1 person kick up a fuss about the red cups.

you had 1 crazy dude made a post about the cups and that’s all it took to yoke every evangelical on God’s creation to the story.

this year i’ve heard more people complaining about Christians complaining about the “war on Christmas”, that I’ve actually heard Christians complaining about a “war on Christmas”.
