The Idol of Effectiveness (monograph)


We all care deeply about the work of God in the world and we all want our efforts to be effective, but could our emphasis on effectiveness have a dark side? In this talk delivered at the FiveTwo Conference, Skye Jethani explores how the influence of corporate consumer values has elevated the importance of effectiveness among church leaders, and how this can warp our view of God, hurt his people, and destroy leaders. Ironically, if we want to be more effective with God we may need to become less effective for God.
