Wow. I missed this during TheNines…thank you for posting this. You can have no idea how much I needed to hear this today.

Thanks Skye…after over 30 years of doing my particular ministry at my local church, I still often get discouraged following that act of service. So much so that I fall into a depression on Mondays that lasts about a day until the urgent agenda of the week sweeps me up and forces me to think about other things. What you said made me think about how it is because I “see” very little impact from my service. Abandoning the outcome to God…that’s what I need.

Thanks for posting this. I had missed it but a number of my friends in Europe said it was one of the best talks of the day. I couldn’t agree more. Thanks

Thanks so much for sharing this insight. I got a lot out of it.
That pressure to accomplish something (often as quickly as possible) seems to be the blight of every effort made for God. But as you say, if we can re-engineer our thinking (and actually believe, not just say it) we’d be more joyful and faithful to the Lord.

Like the words to an old Steve Green song — “May all who come behind us find us faithful.” Thanks for the reminder of who I am in Christ and what I need to focus on. May God be honored and glorified by my ministry – whether I ever realize it or not.

“The outcomes of ministry do not determine my legitimacy.”

That quote is on the white board in front of my desk. I need to be reminded of it and see it every single day.

I heard this talk at the nines and it stopped me in my tracks. I just finished your book this week.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for looking at things differently. It is in deed freeing!

This was much needed at a time when I, as Director, continually struggle with the outcome of my Children’s Ministry. I need to stop looking at the numbers of those that attend and focus more on the hearts of those who attend. Although I pray for my ministry each and every Sunday, I end those days beating myself up over the numbers in attendance. Thank you for reminding me to put my ministry in God’s loving hands.
