Easter Sermon by John Chrysostom

John Chrysostom was the 4th-century bishop of Constantinople and one of the most celebrated preachers in the early church. His Easter sermon is still read every year in Eastern Orthodox churches around the world. It emphasizes the good news of Jesus’ victory over death for all who come to him—both those who have been faithful from the beginning as well as those who are late to the party. The joy and euphoria in Chrysostom’s short homily is a reminder that Jesus’ victory is for all people over all of life.
